New Characters in Life-Line: Diversions

Vanguard Nyla Safar

Picture

Her name is Nyla Safar, and she is the leader of the Vanguards sworn to protect the Guardians of New Ceres. The Vanguards are female warriors whose job is to defeat an assailant bent on creating havoc in their world. She is an expert warrior and is trained in hand-to-hand combat. She can also use a fighting baton with a skill that is hard-pressed to beat. She also swore to not use her skills to take lives needlessly. I really love this character that I have created, who loves other women. She shows a lot of compassion for Tam and the Crew of the Nimbus on their journey.

Guardian  Daiyu  Lui

Picture

Here's another character from my upcoming novel Life-Line: Diversions. This is Daiyu Lui. She is the leader of one of the four factions governing the planet New Ceres. She is known as the Guardian of the Scarlet Aurora and the Guardian of the Flame. The emblem of a fiery comet signifies her faction. As mentioned before, four factions can sometimes be at odds with each other. Currently, Daiyu Lui is the highest-ranking leader of the four factions attempting to keep the peace. She is the one who makes the final decisions in their battles against the other two regimes with which New Ceres is at war. Daiyu Lui also governs the Vanguards and works closely with their leader, Nyla Safar. The crew of the Nimbus will have to convince Guardian Lui that her help is needed in their quest.

Commander William Warner-Schmitz

Picture

This is Commander Maximilian William Warner-Schmitz of the planet Suda Trome. His planet is a democracy where all decisions are voted on by the World Council. Warner-Schmitz and his wife, Lady Warner-Schmitz, have the final say in all decisions. He has two children, Max and Emilia.

He has spent his entire life in the military and was elected Commander for Suda Trome years ago. His nemesis is sometimes Ulla Autstad, the curator of the Suda Trome Museum. His dealings with the crew of the Nimbus could be a problem for Tam and the others.

Lady Warner-Schmitz

Picture

This is Lady Warner-Schmitz, wife of Commander Warner-Schmitz. Although her husband is the Commander of Suda Trome, she has as much say in the politics of the world as he does. She becomes an advocate for the Nimbus crew.

Ulla Austad

Picture

Here is Ulla Austad, the Museum Curator for the Suda Trome regime. She can be rather crass and rude to most people. In fact, Ulla does not look anyone in the eye unless she is making a point or speaking to someone she considers her equal. She stares straight ahead as if looking at a distant point. As a result, she is often at odds with Commanede Warner-Schmitz because she believes an intellectual regime would be better suited for Suda Trome. She has an almost too keen interest in Life-Lines.

Quetzals

Picture

These two men are called "Quetzals." They are telepathic individuals from the Planet Suda Trome. As you can see, they are very tall and slender. Their job is to extract memories from pilots and soldiers to obtain accurate reports of their activities. This prevents any false reports. It has been a tradition for centuries, and the Quetzal have been prized for their abilities. Pilots report that it can be quite a painful but necessary part of military life. The Quetzals keep their personal activities secret and are only seen by Commander Warner-Schmitz and the pilot, who is being "interviewed." Historical information is limited, but there is a long-standing fabled connection to some bird on some lost planet as a spiritual guide. These Quetzals may be an issue for the Nimbus crew...

Eros

Picture

This is Eros. He is a mysterious character and sworn enemy of Nyla Safar from New Ceres. Despite Nyla's warning about this enigmatic man, the crew of the Nimbus finds him rather intriguing... What role will he play in the story? Is he friend or foe? You'll find out in 2025 when my novel is released!

Seann Caprio-Elderking

Picture

Seann is a brilliant freedom fighter for the Suda Trome regime. He is a trained mentalist, and his skills are honed due to his military training. He can block out other mentalists for short periods. He also has the special skill of imposing his logic on others. He’s about 5’10” in height, slender but muscular, with strong and attractive features. He has a greyish beard. Seann is about 45 years old. He has a patch over his left eye due to a battle incident. Seann is queer, as his people call gay men. He lost his male partner, Günter, in the war between the three regimes. He is a pilot, so his right eye has ocular implants to help compensate for the loss of his eye. He is trained in military style, a weapons expert, and in hand-to-hand combat. He has an automaton called Omni installed on his Valhalla Mark V space fighter. Seann is a very talented musician capable of playing music from memory, thanks to his photographic memory.

Bachus Antos-Baran

Picture

This is Bacchus Antos-Baran, dictator of the planet Chimera. He has two wives and three children. He holds absolute power over the population of Chimera. Antos-Baran is a cold and calculating dictator with a penchant for toys - including the ship of the Nimbus crew. Her abilities make her something he desires at all costs. He also holds something the crew of the Nimbus needs in their quest, which could spell disaster if he gets his clutches on them.

Gary Dean “Dino” Higashi

Picture

This is Gary Dean “Dino” Higashi of New Ceres. Gary is of Japanese descent. In the setting of my novels, history has been lost about humanity’s origins. All cultures have melted into one. Gary’s family, however, passed down many traditions that somehow survived the eons since leaving the Milky Way. Gary is in his forties and has never sought out a partner. His life is his piloting. He has a dog named Akira who goes everywhere with him – even in battle.

Gary is a master pilot for the planet New Ceres. His regime is at war with Suda Trome regime (See Sean Caprio-Elderking above and also the Chimera regime (watch for a Chimeran character profile!) Gary is a talented mentalist and can push emotions onto other people. This is a valuable asset in the war with the other regimes. Also, he is a high-level conduit – able to communicate with many others in his regime in a mental meeting that he leads with the Guardians (the leaders of New Ceres) and the Vanguards (protectors of the Guardians).

Finn

Picture

Finn is Tam and Brogan's dog in the Messier 100 Galaxy. Brogan surprised Tam with a gift of a puppy when they moved into their new farm. Tam chose Finn from the litter because he came to him and licked his face. Finn works the farm, herding the sheep and being the men's companion. In Life-Line: Diversions, Finn is referenced a lot because of Tam and Brogan feeling homesick for their farm and animals.

Pablo Toros

Picture

This is Pablo Toros of the planet Chimera. He is not only a pilot, but also an assassin with a complicated history. He creates a lot of problems for the Nimbus crew and other regime pilots, Seann Caprio-Elderking and Gary Higashi.

Admiral Dexter Enzo Marcellus

Picture

This is Admiral Dexter Enzo Marcellus of the Chimeran Regime. He is Antos-Baran's right-hand man. He is in charge of the entire Chimeran fleet. He has a rather nasty attitude to virtually everyone except his Supreme Leader, Antos-Baran. The Admiral is not someone who would be friendly to the Nimbus crew.
